Prof Julius Onyango Ochuodho was born in Siaya County, Kenya. He is a Professor of Agriculture specializing in Plant pathology and seed science and technology. His current interest spurn seed systems, climate change, biodiversity, natural resources conservation and management; innovations and gender (youth) responsive research. He holds a PhD in Plant sciences (seed science) from University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN), South Africa); MSc Plant pathology and BSc Agriculture from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He has a postgraduate Diploma in seed pathology (Danish Seed Center, University of Copenhagen and many professional certificates in various field, including management and leadership.
He is a Full Professor of Agriculture at the University of Eldoret, Kenya since 2015 and currently chair, Professors Committee. Prof Ochuodho is the Director, Resource Mobilization and Strategic Initiatives and founder, Outreach and international students’ center, coordinating Agribusiness incubation; and internationalization of the University and its academic programs. He is an External examiner for the Maseno University and an external thesis examiner in many universities including University of Nairobi, Maseno University and University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa (UKZN). He is a talented and well-established scientist, consistently motivated by the need to produce innovative research and technologies for positive change in the society. To date, he belongs to more than 5 international scientific groups and a number of professional organizations; has participated many scientific conferences, has been awarded more than 20 research grants and projects, and has graduated >30 MSc. and 14 PhD students; has examined > 40 theses both local and international. Prof Ochuodho has participated successfully in many collaborative research initiatives and projects and mobilized many resources to facilitate research and capacity building for the University; published over 70 papers in peer reviewed Journals.
