Prof. John A. Akec has been at the forefront of shaping the academic landscape in South Sudan, contributing significantly to higher education. His journey in academia began earlier when he assumed the role of Vice Chancellor at the newly established University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal in Sudan, a position he held from May 2010 to March 2014. During this time, Prof. Akec played a pivotal role in establishing the academic foundations of the university, contributing to its growth and development.
In 2014, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to education, Prof. Akec was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba.
